May 29, 2019

A 17-member U.S. nuclear energy industry delegation hit the ground running at the 10th Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM) in Vancouver.

The CEM10 and a companion 4th Mission Innovation meeting includes 26 Minister-level government officials as well as corporate leaders, international organizations, investors and researchers to advance clean energy.  U.S. Department of Energy Under Secretary Mark Menezes is the senior U.S. official.

The U.S. Nuclear Industry Council-organized delegation includes representatives from leading U.S. companies including GE-Hitachi Nuclear Energy, NuScale Power, ARC Nuclear, Terrestrial Energy, X-energy, Burns and McDonnell, Curtiss-Wright, Pillsbury and ClearPath.

Former U.S. NRC Commissioner Jeffrey Merrifield, a partner with Pillsbury, chairs the delegation.

The three-day industry mission includes participation in the Nuclear Innovation: Clean Energy Future (NICE Future) initiative, a new international campaign promoting inclusion of nuclear energy in global discussions on clean energy.  USNIC is an official NICE Future partner.

The U.S. industry delegation’s focuses also include bilateral discussions with Canada, United Kingdom, South Korea and Nuclear Energy Agency delegations as well as participation in a Generation IV International Forum meeting, which caps the week’s activities.
